Countdown to the Indianapolis Sprint Triathlon...
Saturday the 26th, is the Indianapolis Sprint Triathlon. Last year I was to participate in this event, but if you remember, just a couple weeks before the event I severely injured my ankle. Well, my ankle is all healed, and I've been training like crazy. I'm so excited.. I just can't wait!
If you're interested in the event, you can learn more at the Tuxedo Brothers Website.
The event consists of a 500 Meter Swim, 10 Mile Bike, 3 Mile Run.

Ahhh.. and in preparation for the Triathlon, I have today (Friday) off. I slept in a little late and just had breakfast. Now it's time to play with Bogie and take it easy. :-)

Ahh.. The thrill of victory. The sprint triathlon was alot of fun. No surprise.. but I had the pre-race jitters where I wondered why I was doing this. But that soon faded as I got in the water.
The swim went smooth, just a few kicks near the beginning while everyone spreads out. I came out of the water near the middle of the pack.
The cycling part was a little tougher. There were some hills, and going up those, just zapps my legs. However, I kept at it, and even passed some people.
Ugh.. the run. I walked the first couple of minutes (up the big hill from the transition area), and then started my jog. I got my rhythm going, and was cruising along. I took a couple minor walk breaks, am very happy about jogging most of the 3 miles.
The whole experience was great! I can't wait for next year. I finished just around one hour and 40 minutes, which is 5 minutes faster than what I had set as a goal!
Here are the results.
