CPR - Public Service Announcement
Hi everyone. I just finished up a CPR class at work, and wanted to pass along this quick tid bit. Did you know that a compression-ventilation ratio of (30:2) is recommended? I sure didn't know that!! I thought it was something like one breath for every five chest compressions. Instead, you're supposed to give two breaths, and then thirty chest compressions.
So, take a minute and read up on CPR http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardiopulmonary_resuscitation or visit http://www.redcross.org to take a class.

They changed them again. When I was last certified at work, which was a couple years ago it was 15:1. I have to be re-certified this year so it's good to know. Hopefully you have an AED nearby!

Please mark my chart as DNR.
If I see that light, I'm running towards it!

heard zero breaths and all chest compressions was recommended by international Dr.'s. It has to do with the fact that the blood circulates the oxygen to all the organs. The lungs do take the oxygen in, but the heart needs to pump it around. So keep the heart pumping...
Dr.'s are hoping more samaritains will help now.

"...which was a couple years ago it was 15:1.."
didn't Lori say its now 30:2? Now, its been a while since I had a math class, but aren't 15-to-1 and 30-to-2 the same thing?

Yes, 15:1 and 30:2 mathmatically are the same, but the point is to have 30 compressions then 2 breaths versus 15 compressions and 1 breath. As someone else said, it's more important to keep the blood circulating.
